    hiya
So I'm going to try this out for a little while here at work. This will probably be my last post for another year, knowing me, but it's still worth a shot. Besides, I'm bored and I didn't bring a book to read today. So here we go.

For the last four or so months I have been teaching at Lake Weir High School east of Ocala. I'm still living in Gainesville so it is about an hour drive down and an hour back. Its a long day that starts around 7 in the morning and ends at 5, normally with a nice afternoon nap.

I'm teaching geometry, algebra 2 and liberal arts math, so its an eclectic grouping and has a lot of different planning every day going on. Generally I spend my morning planning for my liberal arts classes, just teach the next lesson in the algebra 2 book and plan my geometry class at some point during the day. It leaves a lot of spare time while classes are doing work in class, so I have started reading again in earnest. I'm averaging about 3 books a week which is nice but I'm always scratching for things to read. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

As far as life goes, most of my week is consumed by work. My weekends of late have consisted of disc golf and watching football, normally with Tanya and sometimes with Rocco or Morgan, depending on who is around. Tanya and I are still good. There is talk of moving to Tampa together in the fall. We'll see if we can find jobs.

Health wise, I have been broken since about August. That is when I shattered my wrist and had a plate put in. Right when I was finishing up the rehab, I had a spiral fracture and dislocation in my right pinky finger. I just had surgery on that and am still recovering. I haven't been able to make a fist in like 6 months. *shakes fist at bones*

So that's about all I have for now. I suppose i can get to more specifics/recent events in future posts if and when they occur.

    woot
And I do mean woot! Cause well, go gators! What an amazing last year to be a student here. I don't think this will ever happen again anywhere at any school and just it's wonderful to be a part of.

Now the self reflective note as to why I was really posting. So we were running through the streets last night(I use running loosely as a term) and people were all bumping into each other and saying hi and I was thinking of who I'd like to bump into randomly and it occurred to me that there was really nobody. Pretty much all of my extraneous friends who like I'd see once a month or so are really just all gone, graduated, or moved or the like. Nothing against my real friends who are here, I love all of you, but it was just a kind of sad quiet thought. I miss the college friends. You all were good times.

Comment here and I'll tell you one thing that I like about you [or as many things as I want]. Then go post it in your LJ and return the sentiment.

This is Myke's idea, but I'll do it too

So I'm all up in class and all, so here you get an update. First, jai alai state championships are Saturday!!! Very excited. It means instead of working Saturday night, I'll be driving to Orlando to watch the best of the best in the fastest sport on Earth. Other than that this should be a very interesting semester. My Tuesdays are just death. Class and work straight from 9 AM to 11 PM and by the end of the day I just feel like dying. But on that same note, all of my other days are rather pleasant. Pretty much work at 10 and then class/work til 4 or 5. Then I can do whatever I want with my days. This will only get better once my Kaplan class starts in March because then I can cut back other jobs, because I'll be getting moneys.

    class time
Ok, so I'm in class now as I have been all week. So far, no absences which is obviously a plus, but I can already feel the pull of boredom. I have full internet access and nothing but time but I have nothing to do. I need help. If this keeps up, I will stop coming to class eventually. Send me things to do. Anything besides online poker. All other requests are welcome.

So Myke inspired me to try and start posting too, even if it isn't during the early morning hours, because, well, I don't do early morning hours. So posting on here is kind of interesting when your girlfriend is on here too. Not telling you not to read things love, it just pretty much means I'll be posting about non relationshippy type of things, which I suppose is good because everybody else would probably be bored reading about them anyway.

So, for this semester it looks like I'll be keeping my mail job at Environmental Engineering. They didn't fire me and I didn't quit and I love the two people I actually work with, so all the other nonsense aside, I'm glad that I get to stay here with them. I do however need another job to keep things going. Kaplan doesn't appear as though they are going to give me a class, so that seems far fetched although I'll keep hoping. My car also seems like it will protest any attempts I make to return to gatorfood, especially the sound Malibu makes while it's trying to make a U-turn. Blech. The one bright light seems like I might get a job tutoting math at UF to kids who are trying to meet the CLAST requirements. They take like the beginning math classes here and need help. The lady is supposed to get back to me today or tomorrow. (Funny part about the conversation with her. She was like I'm a little concerned because you're a law student and have so much to do that you won't be able to focus on your students. That resulted in me trying to explain things and eventually just saying that law school really only takes up your time if you care at all about it. She seemed amused by that.)

    And, on to resolutions

No Gambling until Jai alai reopens in April(This will be excepted if Morgan and Dan want to go to hamilton for jai alai. But this means no other gambling outside of a fronton.)

    Clean

    Exercise

    Study

Those last three are going up on my wall, so when I'm bored at home and feel like gambling or eating all day, I"ll know what i have to be doing. For now that is all. Happy '07 to you all.

It's sad when your dreams are consistantly more interesting/more enjoyable than your real life. Time for another day of class, work. Maybe I'll be lucky and get a nap.

So I went line dancing tonight with Laura and Toya and have a long list of commentary.

    - Girls are ridiculous. I have played many sports with girls, aka frisbee, tennis, basketball etc. and they almost always get tired before everybody else. But apparently if the sport is line dancing they have no end to endurance. That shit is tiring, but they just kept going, covered in sweat for as long as they pleased. Damn.

    - The greatest sight in the world to me, while exhausted and thirsty was a girl by the bar holding a Smirnoff. I quickly went off in search of my own. Mmmmmm.

    - I will never trust Laura again. This is the second time I have been duped. This time there was no indication that we were going to a country bar or line dancing. The time before there was no indication we were going to a gay club. She is on notice.

    - I rode the mechanical fucking bull. So they started me off pretty soft and I used two hands to grip the rope thing, but I lasted 18 seconds. That's right, I am a warrior.

    - There might actually be sleep tonight. I'm still kinda tipsy and tired, so once I actually lie down in bed, there will be no more (I actually deleted lay down and replaced it with lie down. I don't think I correct my grammar when sober. So strange.)

    - Also, lots of these sentences were capitalized. Also, very strange.

    - Go to this website if you own a phone and computer. I'm so happy with it right now. http://mobile17.smashsworld.com/

So yea, sleep has kind of been on the demand side of the supply and demand chart of late. Monday night was Tanya's turning 21 at midnight party and I fell asleep towards the end of the second showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show despite Myke's excellent performance of it. Even with that, there were only about 6 hours of sleep to be had and the same can be said for last night. Tanya and I went to Common Ground and saw Iron Maiden (no, not the real ones) but they did do the number of the best song and a polite song about the history of native americans, so it was still good times. Sadly my blood sugar ran low and we had to bail right afterwards and it lead to an hour or so of my alternating shaking and gulping handfulls of M & Ms. Needless to say, the sleep afterwards was not so restful and I woke up today with the mother of all headaches, just to go to work and class for the next 7 or so hours. So the plan right now is NAP. I get out of here as soon as I can do the mail run which I should be able to start in a few minutes I hope, then hopefully I'll make it home before i ptfo. I definitely need a way to schedule naps in these days somehow. Maybe some kind of driving and sleeping combo. Hmmmm. Let me know if you have any ideas.

So, to the powers that run Countryside and the Polos respectively, why don't you go take a flying fuck at the mooooooooooooooooooooooooooon? So for all year that I've lived at the Polos, it's been really easy to walk to Morgan's. There's a big freaking hole in the fence that you can just walk through. So, somebody decided it was far two convenient and boarded it up. This resulted in two baddies for me. First of all, as I stumbled out of bed this morning still not all myself, I remembered that my car happened to be at Morgan's and I was already late for work. So instead of being able to run straight through, I got to walk around the freaking fence, both physically exerting for me right now and just downright inconvenient. Maybe worse was last night as I got to the fence and decided that it was too long to go around. So in the woods I got to the top of the fence and then my shirt caught on a post and I hung there, propping myself up with just my arms for like 5 minutes. When I woke up I was like damn, frisbee is hurting me more than it usually does and like in my pecs and upper arms, I wonder why. Then I remembered sitting in the most awkward position ever, hanging on that fucking fence.

Other than the fence last night was more fun than it had any right to be. It was Mike, who's normally just amazingly quiet, Phil who gets on my nerves, Erin who didn't know anybody and me and morgan playing asshole. But damn we all got along. Mike opened up. Phil wasn't an ass. A fucking mazing. And that was following a good hour of frisbee played in the sprinklers which you can't really beat either. Maybe we should permanently change the time to 9 just for that. And the lack of annoying little kids running around everywhere.

And kudos to Rocco who met a celebrity last night. He actually recognized Ikeda (Angel for those of you who read the program) at the gas station and gave him props for being amazing. Who ever thought celebrities would come to Gainesville?

Anyway, I'm done for now. No headache but nothing about my body feels right at the moment. Maybe a desk nap. Mmmmmm work sleep.

So it's been a busy day despite that it's only 1 and I didn't really wake up until around 11 or so. I went apartment hunting before class and I think I found where I will be spending the remainder of my time in Gainesville. It is called Sun Bay. It's right near campus, it's going to be under 600 total a month (which is about as much as I could ask for with a single where I won't have to be a gangster to survive) and best of all it's only down the street from Tanya! Of course the most important part of an apartment. So I went and toured the apartment and because I'm in law school I don't have to pay an application fee and my security deposit is only $150 instead of $500, so more kudos to them.

After I left, I decided to go to class today. I know, even more productive and I got rewarded by locking my keys in the car in the ignition. Thank goodness I still have roommates now though, because Amy came and rescued me with my spare set of keys. So Huzzah for her!

Once I got here, it was registration time for the fall! I have the following. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11-5 with an hour break in there, then one hour on Thursday. Hooray for basically four day weekends! Morgan and I are also going to take a sexual orientation class together over the summer. How gay is that? I might also take death penalty with him with the hated Rambo, but we'll see about that.

Now I'm actually in class, biding my time until intramural playoffs tonight. Heart! plays basketball at 7 and softball at 8. GO HEART!!!

First off, Alan Rubin wanted to be mentioned in my livejournal. Hey Alan, how's that check coming along? There you go, you've been mentioned. So Valentine's Day has come and gone. This was my first real Valentine's Day and things went well. Good food was had as was good company. It's definitely an overhyped day, but it's nice to have an excuse to spend some alone time with somebody you care about.

For the day before and day of, I decided that my poor and lazy butt needed to make some money, so I got myself hired as a flower delivery boy. Things seemed promising. The owner of the place was really nice and he was paying me a pretty significant amount per delivery. Monday went averagely. I had to drive the Malibu and only worked until like 3 because we ran out of things to deliver. I went home disappointed but hopeful because I was promised a van for Tuesday and several more hours. Sadly all that was for naught. Not only did I not get a van, I got very few deliveries. They sent me way off into northwest Gainesville to deliver to a road that didn't exist. So not only did I waste an hour on dirt roads ruining my gas and my poor car, I didn't even get paid for it, since I only get paid per successful delivery. The last straw was being sent to the new medical building on campus which is actually about ten buildings and being sent the wrong way by nurses and doctors for an hour and a half while carrying two ten pound vases. While at first that isn't all that hea vy, after holding them for that long, they are damned well heavy! I finally got fed up with it and decided to call the help unmber on the order and the number did not accept incoming calls! The help number did not accept incoming calls! WTF! So I gave up and was getting back into my car when these two med students came up and helped me. They told me exactly where to go and I got there, went back to the flower shop, quit, and went to the Flats. I'm supposed to get paid something in the next few days. Nothing near what I expected or needed and who knows if it'll even happen at this point. I'm kind of just accepting a two day loss of gas right now.

The turn on that is I got a Kaplan job. I'm not qualified to teach any more because there are all of these retraining seminars I haven't taken yet, but I'm going to proctor an SAT this weekend. I know that's at least guaranteed pay with minimal work. I'll get some reading done for school maybe and pick up a little spare cash. After that, it might be back to for real job hunting which is sad, but necessary.

    and back
So once more, a lovely semester of school is upon us. I am now officially 2 for 2 in going to classes which may actually be a record in starting a semester off. We'll see how long that actually lasts, as I have 4 more classes today. Sigh. I figured it out and I realistically have the same number of classes I had last semester, but it just seems infinitely longer. Maybe that's because I'm still going to everything. Grades for last semester don't come out for a few weeks yet, so maybe if those come back ok, I'll go ahead and cut back on my new strict attendance policy for myself. We'll have to see.

On other fronts, this has been a week of essential game playing. Dan and Yaniv came into town and it was great to see them both. Of course their visit meant lots of tennis, poker and video games, which Morgan happily participated in as well. That led into a weekend of Magic (I went 1-3) and poker (I lost in the 3rd hand of my $100,000 tournament when my pocket kings went all in against pocket aces). So not a lot of success, but fun nonetheless.

    Goals for today:
    Buy books
    Pay tuition
    Get a cheap printer

    Goals for the near future:
    Get new shoes
    Play frisbee

Man, what a night, even though I didn't go anywhere! So I'm in Wellington for a few days, until people start repopulating Gainesville. I will be back before New Years but other than that everything is up in the air as usual. But on my stay here, I used my boredom wisely and got 3rd place in a 390 person poker tournament. That got me an entry into a $100,000 tournament on January 8th. That's right, $100,000 with about 1,000 people entering. I'm so stoked right now. I want it to happen now! Oh happy times in the Wellington.

    1:35 am
Ok, so exams are at a long last end. I turned in my last final this afternoon after staying up nights and sleeping afternoons for a few days. My body hates me right now, but everything got done and surprisingly enough I did do every question on every exam. Way to exceed expectations me! Now that they're done I'm relaxed but really not sure what to do. I can go home whenever but have no real desire to. There isn't anybody really down there and sitting in the house isn't all that appealing. Tanya said she'll be here until the 23rd, so at least that gives me reason to be here for a bit. Afterwards, I suppose South Florida is the answer. I guess lots of time at the casino until I find something productive to do.

On a side note, I am bringing you this update via my new computer. Yea, that's right, I went ahead and bought a desktop. I hope that my new brother in law will be able to fix my laptop, but who knows how long that might take. I had several take home finals to do so I went to best buy and bought an emachine. So far it's been a pleasant surprise. Nice screen, decently fast, no real problems of which to speak. We'll see how long that lasts. Otherwise, I'm in an eh sort of mood. I really don't know. I'll let you know which way it swings.

    3:52 pm
    sigh
So I am only able to take part in this discussion with you all thanks to my roommate Amy, since my computer has officially been pronounced DoA. There was a flashing light on the bottom of my laptop that was originally interpretted to mean that I was having power problems. That would have cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 to fix. However, upon further review, the power message meant that the power supply to the mother board was in fact bad. Best Buy assures me that this is no cheap thing to fix. In fact, both of the Geek Squad individuals present were of the distinct opinion that it might be cheaper for me to buy an entire new laptop than to get this one fixed. So this puts me in a quandry. I can go ask Randy(my new brother in law and computer guru) if he can try and fix it, but I don't think he has the parts, since this is a Dell and it would probably be difficult for him to fix it as well. The other option really seems like I may need to buy a new laptop. So after exams are over and all, I'm going to go out and start looking for one at places like Best Buy and the like. I guess I'll be broke again after this but I know that I will neeed one at least for next semester. Oh well.

Otherwise, stuff is ok. I think I've fixed my late night low blood sugar issues for good. I'm on a much lower dosage and it seems to be working and I'm still pretty healthy. I have one exam this week and two parties (I like those odds :)) and then next week I'll have three exams and no parties (not quite as sweet). I'll deal though and then figure out what to do over break. I imagine I'll be home for part of it, but now the question becomes which part and then for how long. I think I'll be spending New Year's in Gainesville, so that leaves before or after at home, definitely not both. If you have any input either way, lemme know.

    2:16 pm
    hi everybody
I'm just in a really good mood today so I thought I'd post. Much better than those crappy day angsty posts I must say. First off, hats off to sports! The Dolphins and Gators both won this weekend, which may sound silly but it just brings about a general uplifting mood. So while those events were going on, I went home for Thanksgiving, since some people who shall remain nameless decided to go out of town rather than hosting a Thanksgiving in Orlando like they were supposed to do. Anyhoo, my mom was really happy I came down even though she went to Miami pretty much the next day, so it was just me and my dad for the week. Very pleasant and very quiet. We had a happy Thanksgiving meal at Fridays, which was for some reason open and then I split my team between the casino and Michelle. The casino went ok; I finished about 80th in a 240 person tournament and should have gone farther except for a one in a million card on the river. (Did you like the semicolon up there Amy?) For the other two days, Michelle and I bummed around. We went to a bar and watched the Gators pummel the Seminoles. She seems like she's turning her life around up there. She finally has a stable job, she's gonna move into her own place soon, yadda, yadda. It's weird to think that I'll be doing that too in a year and a half. But thankfully that is still a long ways off. For now I can just enjoy hanging out, playing racquetball (I'm now only down 7-6 to Rocco after today), frisbee (hopefully tomorrow), watching movies and spending time with Tanya (who rumors that she'll be back tonight, she'd better be). Otherwise, Morgan and I will be rewarding ourselves and Amy for some hard survey work to come with some Melting Pot tonight. Mmmmm Melting Pot. That should be delicious and hopefully inspire us to get some of these surveys done. We need to do 150 by next Monday. Yikes, but I think we'll get motivated soon. Anyway, I wish similar happy vibes to you all and if you need a pick me up, lemme know. I've got a little up to spare right now. :)
